“Very noble of you, my King,” Jason laughed, shaking his head slightly. “But if you think about doing something reckless then I would advise against it. My head is not nearly as valuable as yours, but I do appreciate the thought.” It was nice to know that his ruler, no his friend, valued his life and thought of them close enough to say such.
He held out the reigns for the king’s horse and looked out over the other knights. They certainly had come a very long way since he first came under Percy’s rule, and though there were times that he wanted to strangle the man he could think of no other he’d rather follow into battle. “Ready to ‘do or die?’”

He wasn’t expecting Leo to jerk like that. It was just a simple peck, something that was supposed to be reassuring, and already Leo was threatening to burst into flames. Jason couldn’t help but chuckle a little, though that turned into a small groan when he felt the shorter boy’s legs moving across his back. “You sure you can handle this..?”

“Don’t give me that look, Leo,” Jason huffed. He still wasn’t convinced that loose clothing was the way to go. It caught on things and wasn’t suited for combat at all. That with tight pants? “No way am I doing that combo. It’s too unpractical to wear.” Not to mention he wasn’t fond of the attention Leo was implying would happen. “I’ll stick with my clothes, the not tight or loose ones, thank you.”
Though the demigod wasn’t sure what would happen if Leo kept that face up.

It was hard to focus. The pain in his side was causing his vision to blur and darken, but the blonde forced himself to stay awake. If Nico was determined to keep him alive then he was going to do his best to not let the kid down. Yet, the bitter reality of the situation was the only thing that was clearly laid out, especially after Nico asked him if he knew where they were.
The monster attack must have pushed them way off course, and since there wasn’t any healing agent being pushed to his mouth Jason figured they must have ran out. He criticized himself for being so stupid for using too much of the ambrosia before and for not thinking about bringing more. It was stupid things like that which resulted in situations like the one he was in now. At least it was him that was injured and not the other demigod; then he really couldn’t forgive himself if something more drastic had happened.
The demigod looked at his companion, hoping to see some signs of Nico forming a plan or figuring out what to do but instead he saw the panic and fear played out on his face. Reaching out, Jason placed his hand on Nico’s, surprised that his hand was almost warmer than his own, and gave it a squeeze. “We’ll figure it out, okay? Just calm down,” he smiled.
He just hoped that the optimism would actually turn out to be true. Blue eyes looked back towards the sky. If only he could build enough strength to fly up and get a good look around; that would solve their problem in an instant. Yet, anytime he tried to move more than a few inches pain would shoot up his spine and the metallic taste of blood would fill his mouth. So Jason tried to rely on his other skills. He searched for any wind current, any path that could tell them they were near something important. A bridge, a highway, anything that could help, but all he could make out was a strange oddly direct current that lead off into something he couldn’t see. For all he knew his eyes could have just been playing tricks on him, but he decided to relay the information to Nico anyways.
“My best bet would be to head that way.”

The words sunk in, and Jason felt his heart start to beat faster. His stomach started to do back flips, and the feeling cotton balls started to fill his throat. Death wasn’t something he wished on anyone but someone of his blood? That was just as bad as saying Piper or Thalia was on their death bed.
“There has to be some way to fix it.”
There was always another way out, another solution if one plan feel through. He went to both mythical and mortal doctor but perhaps there was another doctor that could take care of him. Maybe one of a more godly variety. “We can’t just let this happen.”

"Usually I don’t, but when you flaunt around how much ‘money you have’ and then say you’re 'too broke to pay me back’ then we have a problem,“ Jason grumbled. "I tried talking to him first, but you see how well that turned out.”

No, it’s not anger that colors her words, and it’s certainly
not anything akin to curiosity. Reyna doesn’t know what it
is. But what she does know, is how foolish the words sound
as soon as they are flung into the tense air between them
sharper than she means —sharper than what ought to be
warranted. Because she knows as well as he, (maybe evenbetter?)the importance of duty, of leading, and personal
desires do not have a place there, here.
“And why is it so important now?”
There’s a bite to her words, brought on by uncertainty.
Because she doesn’t know if this new information is better or
worse. She guesses she had just always assumed that Jason
had all his memories back, and he’d just moved on to better
things —no matter how that made her feel. It wasn’t the first time
she’d had to let someone go. And maybe she’d even grown….no,
content wasn’t the word…resigned to the fact. Until now, that was.”Why now, Jason?”
Maybe it’s more a plea now. Those soft curved sounds she isn’t
very good at.
He’s taken back by her words. The memories he had of them never showed her having that type of tone. Even when she was calling out orders or issuing warnings there had always been a calm and smooth feeling to them. The words she was speaking now… well they weren’t spoken by the Reyna he once remembered.
But that’s what happens when you haven’t seen the person in over a year.
Jason knew that was the reason why he wanted to reconnect with his former co-praetor. He wanted to know what set her off, what made her happy, and how those things changed from what he once knew. He wanted to connect the dots from what he could remember seeing but not remember feeling. There had always been holes that could ever be filled thus leaving him empty, and he wanted- no, he needed to fill them.
“Why not now?”

There wouldn’t be a better time; with peace between the camps and no threat to world destruction around the corner it would be the perfect time to settle down and just enjoy the time that they did have.
“Then you’re gonna be standin’ there a long, long time.” Leo murmured, pulling some wires out of his tool belt and fiddling with them. He couldn’t look Jason in the eye, couldn’t stand the anger and resentment he saw there.
He didn’t understand why Jason didn’t just give up on it; why he had to keep the argument going. He just wanted to curl up in a ball in the engine room and listen to Festus’s creaks of “it’s okay.”
“I have time.” He didn’t really have time, but he had enough for the moment to work through this. How hard was it for Leo to just tell him? Why couldn’t he just answer the question so they could both move on?

But when he looked at himself and his actions Jason knew he didn’t have any right to talk. He was standing there being stubborn, not caving to the demands of his friend. After a long sigh he spoke again, “Just..talk to me please. Just tell me why.”

“It didn’t seem important at the time,” he shrugged. “We were both focused on the task at hand, and even if I had told you what could you have done? What could I have done? Nothing.” The only thing that would have happened was both of them worry about the other, and the ‘what ifs’ revolving around this new knowledge that Jason had just shared.

"Besides I don’t know all of the details yet, but I want to find out.“ Even if it meant more heartbreak, angry conversations, and frustration on his part.

He wanted to argue, wanted to say that it was just rain or sweat or anything but tears that was running down his cheeks earlier. Allergies probably would have been the best direction to go, but when they locked eyes and she asked that question Jason was positive she wasn’t going to let him out of it easily, especially not with some lame excuse.

"Don’t tell anyone.. The last thing I need is for someone like Jackson to make fun of me for it, or for Piper to hear and get worried. She worries enough as it is,“ he admitted, his voice soft and still shaken up from earlier. It was odd and very ‘un-Roman’ of him to be like this, and the son of Jupiter wasn’t sure how he felt about it.
