I was born a child of Rome but grew to be a child of the gods. I was crafted to be the champion of Juno but rose up to be a hero of Olympus. Now, I will create my own path. I will keep my promise to represent all the gods and to protect their children, or I will die trying.

Nico couldn’t handle it anymore. He burst
out laughing, which hurt his cheeks because
he wasn’t used to making such an expression.
Obviously whomever he bought the deck from
had scammed him. Nico then wondered how
much Jason had paid for the cards. Usually they
went for about a dollar or less, so Nico didn’t
really expect anything higher.

’  Was it supposed to be that one pack
good for attacks midair? That seems
like the kind of pack you’d buy, Jason.  ’

He was still chuckling after he had said it.
It was a funny mistake to him. Nico was
sure, however, he would be the object of
derision.

A small blush, caused mostly from the embarrassment, spread across his cheeks. It was one thing for Nico to think of him as an idiot, but to laugh at him…well that was embarrassing. After all how often did Nico actually laugh? Not enough in Jason’s opinion, but right this second he could have lived with the son of Hades keeping to his usual demeanor.

“Yeah. I figured it would be more ‘typical Jason’, but it’s what I know. I mean water packs are cool and all, but at least with air attacks I can use more of a logical approach and use things that would actually work on a real battle field.” But what the blonde failed to realize was that in games that wasn’t always the case.

Nico tried to never go back on his nerdy

Mythomagic days. They held a lot of old
memories, and he simply couldn’t bear to
revisit them. However, when Jason came
to ask him a very important question about
why Poseidon was more powerful than Zeus
in a certain pack, Nico almost slapped himself
across the face. The answer was so simple!

Nico took the pack from his hands and studied
the cards just to make sure his answer was correct.
Ah! Just as he had thought…

image

’  Jason… It’s because this is an Oceanus pack.
Every card involving something with water is
bound to be more powerful.  ’

Oceanus pack?? No that couldn’t be right. The guy who sold him the deck said it was Uranus pack, the one good for air combat. Jason didn’t know if real life experience would transfer into the game, but a home-field advantage was one of the most basic battle strategies so he went with it.

"That little…“ he sighed in frustration. At least it made sense now, and though he felt like a moron for asking, since the answer was so simple, he felt better knowing that the mortal world wasn’t totally losing it’s shit. "It was supposed to be a different pack..”

grecixn liked this for a starter

"I don’t get it.“ For days he’d been trying to figure it out. He’d gone over the rules, looked at any manuals he could find, and even on days he was able to go out into the city he would do nothing but research. So he decided to go to the expert, and that’s how Jason found himself standing in the Hades Cabin with two very important Mythomagic cards in his hand. "Why is Poseidon more powerful than Zeus in this pack? It makes no sense.”

Nico shrugged and shuffled in place,
leaning on one foot to the other. The
demigod was uncomfortable to say the
least. Yes, the two were on better terms,
but Nico still couldn’t get used to him. And
since Nico hasn’t seen him in a while, the
           awkwardness was ten times greater.

Why does he put himself through these things…—?

image

                “Yeah, I suppose.”

There had to be a way to get rid of this lingering awkwardness. Something to get Nico to relax besides smiling at the boy, which would probably tire his cheeks and his patience. He still needed to unpack so maybe that could help.

"Yeah I’m not too fond of that saying either,“ Jason admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "But if you don’t want to go right this second you could come back with me to my cabin?” That sounded a lot better in his head that’s for sure.

He stuffs his hands in his pockets
as he chews the insides of his cheek.
It had been a while since he’s seen
Jason. How was he supposed to start
           a conversation? Nico sighed.

image

Hey. Haven’t seen you in a while.”

Honestly that was more from Nico then he thought he was going to get. Sure the two are on better terms, but that didn’t mean Nico was going to welcome him. Jason wasn’t going to complain though, and he answered with a smile, “It has been awhile hasn’t it, but isn’t the saying absence makes the heart grow fonder?”
